About
Happy Crew stands at the frontline of Colorado's youth mental health crisis, offering a beacon of hope in a state ranked 41st for mental health treatment access. Founded in 2007 by Amy Mays, Happy Crew has transformed her living room into a weekly haven where over 100 teenagers gather to learn vital mental wellness tools and find genuine connection.
When Happy Crew approached us, they needed their digital presence to serve multiple audiences effectively: teenagers seeking community, parents searching for support, and donors looking to make an impact. Through our partnership, we helped them create a website that not only reflects their vibrant community but also builds trust and facilitates engagement across all these groups. As their mission grows, our partnership ensures their digital presence evolves alongside them.

The Good and the Needed to be Worked On
The original Happy Crew website had strong bones—a beautiful Squarespace design filled with valuable information about their mission and impact. However, platform limitations and an undefined target audience created challenges. The site's darker aesthetic, while appealing to teens, didn't fully address the need to build trust with parents and donors. The standard calendar display, showing mostly empty months, failed to convey the energy and consistency of their weekly meetings.
We approached these challenges by first clarifying the website's multiple audiences and their distinct needs. For teenagers, we created an engaging, custom-designed calendar that highlights their four monthly meetings, making event information instantly accessible. For parents, we developed clear, structured content that provides transparency about meeting topics and Happy Crew's approach to mental health support. For donors, we integrated GiveButter CRM to streamline the donation process while demonstrating impact.
Through strategic design choices like custom dropdowns for values and bento boxes for statistics, we transformed complex information into digestible, engaging content. The result is a website that balances Happy Crew's youthful energy with professional credibility—creating an online presence that serves their community as effectively as their in-person gatherings do.
